Please contact Polarview - I can't respond any longer to your requests because it doesn't involve ActiveCaptain.

Make sure you have their latest version. They had a bug with the latest website starting last October.

My Polarview is attempting to update its POI list.
It is always reporting: Unable to contact Active Captain host.

Are these troubles temporary?

Kyle

1. You need to download and install a current version of PolarView. Due to changes on the ActiveCaptain/Garmin servers previous versions are no longer supported. To download PolarView visit this page: [www.polarnavy.com]

2. Note that our access to ActiveCaptain is being discontinued by Garmin in May. See relevant thread in this forum.

Will I be charged again, or will I retain my licenses that I currently have?

Thanks,

That depends on what version of PolarView you are using.
- If you are using an earlier copy of version 3.0, you can continue using your current license.
- If you need to upgrade from version 2.x, you will need a new license.

Note, that our current ActiveCaptain access is being discontinued by Garmin in May. If you plan to buy a license solely to access ActiveCaptain data, it will only provide about a month of access before .

3.0.3 so no troubles.

Solely using the Active Captain community? Nope. We use Polarview as intended. Chartwork and heads up nav.

I've read the other threads regarding this divergence and still have one question - Does Polar Navy have any plans to add another POI community's overlay in future, as it once did with ActiveCaptain? Or is the plan to abandon POI overlay altogether?

Cheers!

We would love to add new POI sources.

The PolarView POI data format has been available in open source form from the start. Anyone can produce a compatible POI data set. (This was the link posted sometime in 2011 - [www.polarnavy.com] )

Alternatively, any data sources that want to work with PolarView are very welcome (provided they come with reasonable licensing requirements, which is not difficult - we are not too picky smiling smiley )
